Ms. Jennifer Humphrey

Director of Special Education

As the Director of Special Education, Jennifer Humphrey combines her training and experience as a special educator and school administrator to oversee all aspects of specialized services for students with disabilities. 

‘I recognize and support the importance of individualizing the educational experience to meet the unique needs of each student.  Along with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team, of which the parents are important members, I will strive to foster the student's development of a positive self-concept and identity within a larger community. Our focus is to provide the student with the tools to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.’

Ms. Humphrey earned a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Special Education from Southern University and A & M College in Louisiana, and also holds a M.A. in General Administration from Chicago State University.  She is certified to teach learners from birth to 21 years of age in Illinois and Louisiana, and is credentialed to function as an administrator.

Ms. Humphrey joins District 132 after having most recently worked as an Assistant Principal and Principal with an alternative high school contracted with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) located on the south-east side of the city. Prior to, Jennifer served as a Curriculum Specialist at a Therapeutic Day School in Chicago.

Ms. Humphrey is a member of several organizations that work to improve education, such as the Council for Exceptional Children and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

 

 

 

 

Calumet Public School District 132 Goals
Goal I. Strengthen curriculum and instruction based on identified needs to improve achievement of all students.
   
Goal II. Strengthen and enhance the role of school site administrators.
   
Goal III. Improve student support services.
   
Goal IV. Establish and maintain a recruitment, hiring, training and retention program in order that the most highly qualified staff is available to all students.
   
Goal V. Develop a clear and concise spending and financial reporting plan to provide effective use of resources for student learning.
   
Goal VI. Strengthen relationships at all levels within school district and with the community.
   
Goal VII. Improve board organization, effectiveness and efficiency as a policy making body.
